Israel's BlueBird Aero Systems Unveils Its SpyX Kamikaze Drone at The Paris Air Show 2023
BlueBird Aero Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) Group, has launched the SpyX Loitering Munition, popularly known as the kamikaze drone, at the Paris Air Show 2023, France.
SpyX is a silent electric drone used to roam the air, looking for targets and then destroying them.
To enhance its target detection capabilities, the SpyX features a dual belly-mounted sensor-stabilized payload as well as an advanced video tracking device.
This integration enables autonomous and accurate electro-optical-guided attacks on designated targets.
SpyX is equipped with a 2.5 kg warhead, with options for antipersonnel, antivehicle, or antitank types.
Drones can fly up to a distance of 50 kilometers or for 1 hour and 30 minutes in the air.
When it finds the target it is looking for, the drone can glide at a speed of 250 km/hour.
To extend its reach, a kamikaze drone weighing 10 kg can be placed on a civilian pickup-type vehicle.
